Nuestra Señora de la Sabiduría Primary School was founded in 2008 in the Pedro Carbo canton of the Guayas province as an inclusive project promoted by the “Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes” Foundation, with the support of Mons. Herberth Leuthner and the Korean missionary Elizabeth Kim. In 2009, it moved to the Lomas de Sargentillo canton. Over the years, it received support from various organizations, donations of technological equipment, and the construction of new facilities, which allowed it to expand its academic offerings and establish itself as a leading educational institution in the area.
During the last few years, the institution faced new challenges, such as the suspension of in-person classes due to the pandemic and the ecclesiastical reorganization that linked it to the Diocese of Daule in 2022.
In 2025, the administration was taken over by the Board of Charity, which implemented improvements in infrastructure and in the pedagogical model, prioritizing a learner-centered approach and academic excellence. Today, with 17 years of experience, Nuestra Señora de la Sabiduría remains committed to the comprehensive education of its learners.
In this stage, we prioritize learning through play, allowing children to explore, experiment, and discover the world around them. We use an active and playful methodology that stimulates the development of language, motor skills, creativity, and logical thinking. From the early years, we promote contact with English in a fun and natural way, in addition to fostering emotional and human development, preparing a solid foundation for their future education.
During primary education, our learners develop fundamental skills to understand their environment, solve problems, and communicate effectively. They learn to read comprehensively, write texts with an appropriate structure, and participate in conversations and debates on topics of their interest. Through integrative projects, they investigate their community and the country, critically reflect on social and environmental issues, and apply mathematical operations in daily life. We also promote entrepreneurship, the responsible use of technology, emotional and human development, as well as autonomy to learn with enthusiasm.
